Visiting Lecturer in Italian – University of Illinois at Chicago

The Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position to teach beginning August 2023. The successful candidate would teach Italian language and culture courses for a total of six courses over two semesters. The position may be renewable depending on performance and programmatic need.

Requirements: native/near native fluency in Italian; demonstrated excellence in teaching Italian at the college level and in a variety of formats; evidence of commitment to students’ success and participation in departmental activities. MA, ABD or Ph.D. in Italian and/or an advanced degree in second language pedagogy/acquisition.

A complete dossier should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a teaching philosophy statement, a 15-20 minute teaching video (preferably of a first-year language level; if no recording is available, a mock-class video is acceptable), course evaluations, and names and contact information of three references.
